The outlook has turned a little sour!

The recent Wall Street financial crises and the resulting credit crunch has had some appreciable effect on the local real estate market here in Washington County. I just ran the stats for September sales(residential/townhouses/condos) in all of Washington County and the results show the things have slowed as far as closings are concerned. The data show that there were 154 closings across the county during September. We have most likely about 600 real estate agents serving the area. That certainly doesn't bode well for most of those agents in the income category. Look for an exodus of a lot of agents by the end of the year.... long overdue I might add. As I talk with agents around the area a few are actually busy, but most are in despair for business that has slipped away during the summer months and now has just fallen over the cliff. I don't look for any positive signs until well into 2009, some are saying even into 2010.
