Let's get Realistic!
To those agents who are still misleading their prospective buyers and sellers into thinking that the local area isn't suffering the housing crash that other sections of the country are... take a look at the real facts. In the Peters Township areas comprised of Peters Twp; Nottingham Twp; Finleyville; Union Twp and N. Strabane Twp the data show that only 6.8% of homes on the market in November actually sold and closed.
When we look at the Washington areas comprised of the City of Washington and it's surrounding townships and include in the southwest areas covered by the McGuffey School District we find the data shows that only 6.4% of the homes on the market in November in all those areas actually sold and closed.
Now, you can listen to "Hoddy" Hanna blow all the smoke he wants, like when I heard him on Pittsburgh's KDKA radio recently saying how great this area's real estate market is performing and then be praised by the talk show's idiot host as being "the man" for real estate around these parts... To which I say "bull____."
If it's so great as "the man" says it is then why are some of Pittsburghs nationally known mega brokerages like Coldwell Banker cutting back on advertising in the local papers and cutting employee staff, even consolidating key positions to it's corporate headquarters in NJ?
No, things aren't so great by any measure. Most agents are just barely surviving and many are taking part time jobs, anything, just to try and weather out this brutal storm brought on by the biggest financial crises since the 1930's that we watch unfold more and more every day. Many agents will be leaving the business (a good thing) and moving on to other endeavors of employment, if they can find them. The Washington Greene Association of Realtors governing board predicts such a large loss of membership that it recently laid off it's paid staff to save money with the expected drop in dues revenue over the next couple of years. They are even contemplating closing up their office and operating out of a members home to save costs. Sorry to say that will cause even more loss when the member services once provided become no longer available. And so goes the spiral.
Did I mention that now is not really a good time to get into the real estate business?
