Primo Cucina Italiana Restaurant, Washington, PA
Primo as defined by Webster means "is the finest." The Primo Restaurant which was until last year located at the bottom of S. Main Street has moved it's operations to the old Trotters Restaurant at the top of what we used to call Strawberry Hill, on US Rt 19 just north of the Meadows Racetrack and Casino. Saturday March 21st a friend and I went there for dinner to try out the new digs. The remodeled interior of the establishment is a very comfortable motif befitting a nice Italian restaurant. The wait staff service is excellent. Prices are moderate ranging between $10 and $22.We ordered the Lasagna. The bread served was outstandingly fresh and very good when dipped into the plate of olive oil and herbs they provide. The salad was respectable and sized just about right for the average diner. Then came the main course of Lasagna. It looked great, nice portion size and covered with cheese and herbs. But sadly, the ground beef that was used was not very good. I couldn't eat all of mine because of the poor quality meat and my companion ate very little of hers as well.
Hopefully, this was just a bad batch of ground beef, but none-the-less it soured the dining experience for us and puts a damper on my giving out a higher recommendation for this restaurant. You may want to give it a shot yourself, but if you do order the Lasagna make sure you question the wait staff on the meat used to make it. Maybe the chef will read this and make the necessary adjustments to his meat procurement procedures.
I give this restaurant 3 stars. It would have had 4 but for the aforementioned problem. You try it and see what you think.
